The Bigelow House project involved the restoration of the H. H. Richardson designed house for reuse as condominiums. This reuse was specified by the Newton Board of Aldermen when the house was sold by the city to NHPA. The Bigelow House had been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The restoration was a joint venture between NHPA and WGBH. This was the second in the “This Old House” series. NHPA started a revolving fund for historic preservation with the proceeds from the sale of the last condominium unit.
