The historic West Newton Nathaniel Allen House was up for sale, and the Mabel Riley Foundation donated $26,000. The NHPA provided the remaining funds for the purchase in 1977, and held the deed until 1978, when the Allen School and House Preservation Corporation took over the rehabilitation of the house.
